The quipu that remembers nothing

A conceptual work by Cecilia Vicuña, from a line written in her diary in the late 1960s. Vicuña chose this work as her featured textile object, linked as it is to her decades-long investigation into the ancient Andean quipu form, its fate under as part of an Indigenous system of knowledge production and computation under colonialism, and its material and aesthetic potential.
